Opening Ceremony
The Games will kick off on May 5th with a grand opening ceremony at Phnom Penh’s brand-new Morodok Techo National Stadium. The excitement has been building for months, with the SEA Games 2023 torch relay already underway. it was a proud moment for all of us in Siem Reap to witness King Norodom Sihamoni ignite the flame at the world-renowned Angkor Wat temple on March 21st; An event which marked the beginning of a journey that will take the torch through all 11 participating countries before it arrives back in Phnom Penh for the opening ceremony.

Although there are no events planned for Siem Reap, the ASEAN Para Games promises to be an exciting event for everyone involved.
A Short History of the SEA Games
The SEA Games, a biennial multi-sport event, has been held since 1959. Formerly known as the Southeast Asian Peninsular (SEAP) Games, the competition was rebranded as the South-east Asian (SEA) Games in 1977. It has grown to become one of the most prestigious events in the region, attracting athletes from various countries to compete and exhibit their abilities.
